Price change

Player prices in Fantasy Premier League move in steps of 0.1m, applied once a day and driven by net transfers: a player bought by far more managers than sell him rises, and a player being sold in numbers falls. Prices are updated once a day, at midnight UK time, including while a gameweek is in progress, and no player moves more than 0.1m in a night.

What actually moves a price

The engine counts transfers in against transfers out across the whole game, relative to how many managers own the player. That means popular cheap players move fast, while a premium already owned by millions needs an enormous swing to shift. Nothing about goals, minutes or form enters the calculation directly, only what managers do about them.

Changes are applied at midnight UK time, after the day's transfer activity is counted, and each player can move at most 0.1m per night. The exact algorithm has never been published, but from 2026/27 the game itself carries an official Price Change Predictor, so you no longer have to rely on outside trackers to see who is close to a move.

What it means for your team

Rises in players you own add to your team value, and when you sell you keep half of the rise, rounded down to the nearest 0.1m. Falls are passed on in full. Team value is not points, but a larger budget widens the set of squads available to you later in the season, which is why some managers move early and accept a slightly worse pick to bank the rise.

Example

A 5.5m defender starts the season with two clean sheets and is transferred in by hundreds of thousands of managers. He rises to 5.6m one night and 5.7m the next, and everyone who bought him at 5.5m keeps 0.1m of that when they sell.

From the archive

The steps are small but they compound: in a recent completed Fantasy Premier League season the biggest riser gained 1.4m over the campaign, a whole season of 0.1m rises in the same direction. Figures as of 3 September 2026.

Method

FPL price benchmarks per season. Prices are in millions of pounds as shown in the FPL game. Rises and falls are measured from each player's first to last appearance of the season. Historical seasons are built from the community FPL archive maintained by vaastav (MIT licensed, itself derived from the official FPL API) combined with our own calculations.

These are official Fantasy Premier League figures from the game's own API, covering every registered manager rather than a sample of them, so there is no selection bias to correct for. Seasons before the current one are rebuilt from the community FPL archive maintained by vaastav, which is MIT licensed and itself derived from the same official API.
