Highlights

Every manager is placed in a country league automatically, so all of the counts below were read the same way on the same day and can be compared directly.

  • Egypt is the largest country league after England, on 720,112 managers, and Nigeria follows on 383,939.
  • The United States is the 4th largest country league with 368,208 managers, 3.6% of the global total.
  • 54 African countries hold 2,706,308 managers between them, 95.3% of what England holds on its own.
  • The four UK nations (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) hold 3,194,433 managers together, 31.0% of the global total.
  • Against population, Iceland has the most managers per 1,000 people at 57, ahead of Ireland on 52 and England on 48, counting only country leagues with at least 10,000 managers.

Is FPL growing?

FPL ended the 2019/20 season with 7,628,968 registered managers and the 2025/26 season with 13,107,732, a rise of 71.8% across the 7 seasons below. Every row in the table is a season end total, which is why the 2026/27 figure on this page sits under them: it is counted early in the season and only grows from here, so it is a floor rather than a finished number.

Why are there so many country leagues?

The United Nations has 193 member states, yet FPL runs 254 country leagues, 61 more. The list follows the international country-code standard rather than a political map, so every territory with its own code gets its own league. The four UK nations (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) each have one, and a separate United Kingdom league holds 5,805 managers who picked that instead. Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey appear as leagues of their own, as do overseas territories such as Gibraltar, Faroe Islands, Greenland and Hong Kong.

Some codes belong to places where almost nobody lives. Antarctica has 1,536 registered managers, the smallest league, Netherlands Antilles, has 0, and 101 of the 254 leagues have fewer than 1,000 managers. Every one of them is still counted here, which is why the country table on this page runs so long.

What the number counts

A registered manager is a team entered for the 2026/27 season, not a person confirmed to still be playing in May. Registrations keep climbing through the season, so 10,318,580 is a floor rather than a ceiling.

Source: the official FPL player total and the membership of every official FPL country league, read on 2 September 2026. Population figures are World Bank estimates for 2024, with the four UK nations from the Office for National Statistics. The season by season rows are read from archived snapshots of the official FPL API, and each row carries its own source in the dataset. The archive based statistics elsewhere on this site describe the completed 2025/26 season rather than the one now under way.

Method

Every FPL manager is automatically placed in their country's official country league, so the league's membership equals the number of registered managers from that country. All official country leagues were counted; club leagues, gameweek leagues, the Overall league and broadcaster leagues were excluded. The count is exact: the last standings page P is located with binary search and the total is (P - 1) * 50 plus the entries on the last page. Numbers reflect managers registered for the 2026/27 season as of 2026-09-02; registrations keep growing through the season, and archive based statistics elsewhere on this site refer to the completed 2025/26 season.

The global total is FPL's official total_players figure. Country numbers are the memberships of every official FPL country league for the 2026/27 season, fetched live on 2026-09-02. No country is left out: each country league FPL runs was located and counted, so the list covers the whole world and not a selection of markets.
