The 2025/26 FPL season in numbers

FPL publishes an average score for every gameweek, and the gap between the best and the worst week of 2025/26 was wide. The table below lists all 38 gameweeks with the official average, the highest single score anyone posted that week, and the players most captained and most selected.

One armband decided most weeks: Haaland was the most captained player in 34 of the 38 gameweeks, and M.Salah was the most captained in 4. Ownership was just as concentrated. Haaland was the most selected player in 30 gameweeks and João Pedro in 6. The ten highest scoring players of the season are below, with the share of squads that still held them when the season ended.

Over the season managers played 11.6M Triple Captains, 10.2M Wildcards, 9.7M Bench Boosts and 8.7M Free Hits. 2025/26 gave every manager two sets of chips, one set for gameweeks 1 to 19 and a second set from gameweek 20 onwards, so each chip could be played twice in the same season.

The busiest weeks follow the fixture list. The Free Hit peaked in gameweek 31, a blank gameweek where several teams had no fixture at all, while the Bench Boost peaked in gameweek 33 and the Triple Captain in gameweek 36, both weeks where a number of teams played twice. The Wildcard peak came early instead, in gameweek 4, when the first squads were rebuilt.

Managers made 520.4M transfers across 2025/26, an average of 39.7 for every registered manager. Transfers beyond the free ones cost 4 points each, the charge FPL managers call a hit.

FPL does not publish how those hits are spread across managers, so the three figures below come from FPL Butler's season archive instead, counting only managers who played every gameweek from the first to the last.

Bench points and squad value are not published per gameweek either, so these are archive medians. The median manager left 278 points on the bench over the season, points that only ever counted when an automatic substitution fired.

The median squad, money in the bank included, finished the season worth 100.9m. The top ten percent had built theirs up to 103.8m or more, while the bottom ten percent were still on 98.3m, close to the starting budget.

The official average says where the middle of the season sat. The spread around it comes from the final mini-league standings in the season archive, where every manager has a full season total.

Finland had the highest median season score of the countries covered, 2,055 points. The manager numbers are the memberships of the official FPL country leagues at the end of the season, while the medians are taken from the managers of each country that the season archive reaches.
